Engine, Motor Generators and Power in the 2020 Lexus NX Hybrid

The 2020 Lexus NX 300h features a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine paired with three motor generators that produce outstanding hybrid performance. The NH 300h achieves 194 total horsepower and boasts a standard Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel-Drive System.

There are two motor generators located in the front of the NX and one in the rear, with each serving a different purpose. One of the front generators focuses on starting the engine and charging the hybrid battery, the other focuses on driving front wheels and charging during braking, while the rear generator drives the rear wheels and recharging while braking.

Drive Modes in the 2020 Lexus NX 300h

All 2020 Lexus NX models feature selectable drive modes, including both hybrid models. Drive modes in the 2020 Lexus 300h include EV mode, ECO, Normal and Sport modes. Each mode adjusts throttle, suspension and performance to the driver’s preference. EV mode, which is specific to hybrid models, allows the vehicle to run solely on an electric motor for up to one mile at speeds less than 25 mph.
